Jai Shane Cañete is a licensed chemist and a published scientist. He is currently working as a writer and brainstormer in TV drama in the Philippines. He is part of Batch 22 of Ricky Lee’s Film Scriptwriting Workshop, and one of the members of the first-ever Ricky Lee Script Lab.
He won best screenplays in Sinulog Film Festival 2019 and Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition 2019. His story and screenplay “Dinner” was one of the top ten finalists of the first CineSpectra Short Film Festival 2019 in Metro Manila.
His play “Leave a Portion for Me, Alberto” was developed during the Cornelio Faigao Writer’s Workshop in Drama and Performance 2016 mentored by Linda Faigao Hall. It was staged in the 2019 festival of Cebuano plays and was published in a book in 2021. He also directed and wrote passion plays in Bantayan Island, Cebu for seven years.
