JANN DAINVER ‘Deejay’ LABADISUS MARAVILLA hails from Clarin, Misamis Occidental. He is living his dreams of being a poet, playwright, singer-composer, theatre director, dramaturg, events manager, researcher, and teacher. He finished his Bachelor of Arts in English (cum laude) at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology.
He started writing poems during his secondary education, while his interest in playwriting manifested shortly after finishing college. His original one-act plays have been staged all over Mindanao. They have won in regional and national competitions: Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools Inc, MASTS Inc. Short and Sweet Play Competition, Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, or PASUC Short and Sweet Play Competition. Some of his poetry works appear in some online and hard print anthologies in the Philippines: Dagmay Literary Journal of Davao Writers Guild and Ani of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Moreover, he was a poetry fellow at the Cagayan de Oro Poetry Writing Clinic, Davao Writers Workshop, and Cebu City Kagis Creative Writers Workshop; a dramaturgy and playwriting fellow to the New Modalities Program dubbed as TranScript of the MSU-IIT Integrated Performing Arts Guild, Sulat Dula 5: A Playwriting and Dramaturgy Workshop in Mindanao, and the 28th Iligan National Writers Workshop. He is the Founder of PaMaDa (Panon sa mga Manunulat sa Dapitan), Founding Vice Chairperson of Dapit Sining Collectives, and the Founding Artistic Director of Teyatro Dasuliman of Jose Rizal Memorial State University, where he is also affiliated as a College Instructor. He is also currently serving as a general member of the National Committee on Dramatic Arts of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and an executive member of the Mindanao Creative and Cultural Workers Group, Inc.
