Bio

Junsly Kitay serves as a senior artist-teacher of the Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts (YATTA), and youth-based theater group from Dumaguete City. Most of his artistic training came from the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), the National Commission for Cultural and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). He spends most of his time doing community workshops as well as creative training in various themes using theater arts as a tool. Apart from performing, his role in YATTA has expanded into playwriting, directing, production design, short film and documentary.

Theater became his personal vessel for transforming his life and gaining life skills and a deep commitment to working with children and young people through theater. Presently, he is connected with the biggest public high school of the province, Negros Oriental High School as a public teacher handling “Theater” for the Special Program for the Arts Curriculum, the artistic director of Blue Royal Theater Organization (BROTHOR), the school organization for theater inclined students of which was initiated by Mr. Kitay himself. He also handles an advisory class of multi-faceted students with different skills in arts, dance, music, acting and sports.
