Rossum’s Universal Robots (2012). Aside from theater plays, Tanghalang SLU is also responsible for hosting the annual SLU Drama Festival, a competition among the different colleges of SLU in the field of theater. Moreover, the company performs in various significant events in Baguio City performing brilliant shadow plays and outstanding creative dramatics. In 2002, Tanghalang SLU was awarded as the grand champion in the YFC Drama Festival. Tanghalang SLU attested its theater expertise when the group performed in several key cities, churches, and Universities in Belgium in October 2011 as part ofthe CCA International Cultural Tour Production in Europe. They were also invited to perform in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Amado Hernandez during the Pasinaya Festival in 2011. Moreover, the company presented theatrical showcases during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd CICM Friendship Meet in Nueva Vizcaya (2008), Tuguegarao (2010), and in Baguio (2012), co-hosted and participated in the 31st UNESCO International Theater Institute World Congress Theater for All Program in Baguio-Cordillera Administrative Region in 2006 and was selected as one of the fringe performance and main festival play during the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Tanghal! National University Theater Festival in Laguna, Manila, Bacolod City, and Baguio City being the flagship project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for the Philippine International Arts Festival. Aside from Tanghal Festival, Tanghalang SLU participated in several previous NCCA supported projects and linkages with other theater organizations and network such as Tam-awan International Arts Festival last May 13-15, 2011 in celebration of the Filipino Heritage Festival; Tanghalan ng Mag-aaral Luzon Regional Conference last August 19-20, 2011 in Legazpi City; NUCTO Luzon Conference held at the University of Makati last November 26-27, 2011; Dilang Luzon- a project of ARTIST-PARS and NCCA in cooperation with ARTIST Inc. and LUSONG-Luzon and LINANG last November 26, 2011. For two consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, Tanghalang SLU received nominations in the 23rd and 24th Aliw Awards, the country’s most prestigious award-giving body in the live-entertainment industry. The nominations are as follows: Tanghalang SLU (Best Cultural Group – 2010-2011), Dan Rommel Riopay as Best Stage Director – 2010 (musical), 2011 (non-musical), Ang Kagila-gilalas na Buhay ni Lam-ang (Best Non-Musical Production – 2011), Rey Angelo Aurelio (Best Stage Actor in a Musical – 2010), and James Anthony Mallari (Best Stage Actor in a Non-Musical – 2011).
