About Us

The TEATRO GUINDEGAN of La Salle University, Ozamiz City was formally established in June 2007 by its Founding Artistic Director Felimon Bonita BLANCO, through the efforts of Dr. Chiedel Joan G. San Diego, then Director of Culture and Arts Office. The name of the group is derived from the Subanen word guindegan, which means platform or place of performance. Teatro Guindegan is known for its experimentation of Asian classical arts forms in contemporary performances. The company takes pride in claiming that it is the only theater company in the Province of Misamis Occidental that has sustained theater programs. The six components of Teatro Guindegan Theater Training Program serve as the core activities of the company: Sanay Teatro (workshop series program), Talakay Teatro (lecture series program), Gabay Teatro (community extension program), Panday Teatro (theater laboratory program), Akbay Teatro (regular rehearsal program) and Alay Teatro (major productions). Through the years, the company has developed its own theater training system called Guindegan Performance Style (GPS). The company is supervised by a Board of Advisers with Ted Nudgent Tac-an as the current Artistic Director. The student artist-members is headed by the Company Manager, Niel Villarejo.
